Job Summary:

Asset Control has developed and brought to market a sophisticated, cross asset application server platform for the international financial services industry. As a result Asset Control is expanding its technology services team and has an immediate opening in its database management team.


Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Located in Vancouver and reporting to the Director, Software Development, this position will be active across a number of areas including:

  • Develop stored procedures, functions and triggers in support of application development;
  • Identify and resolve data related problems;
  • Develop and execute unit tests;
  • Perform physical database design in response to requirements and respecting the product architecture;
  • Develop scripts to create/update static data and occasionally develop migration scripts;
  • Provide support of internal databases as requested (administration, backups, recovery);
  • Develop and support useful client documentation;
  • Provide ongoing support to customers, application developers, product management and others in support of the growth of the business.

Asset Control follows a rigorous project management and software development methods of working, requiring all staff to contribute on a timely basis.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

Energetic, results oriented individuals with a “can do” attitude are required with the following skill sets:

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent level of education and directly related work experience;
  • Good working knowledge of Transact-SQL;
  • Good applicable knowledge of relational database design and optimization principles;
  • Top tier system administration skills in MS SQL Server 2000/2005;
  • Experience in building, managing, and administering relational databases;
  • Experience with data modeling, including the use of tools such as ERWin/PowerDesigner;
  • Exposure to maintaining applications using large-scale databases with several supported versions;
  • Strong written communications skills in English;
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course or equivalent is an asset;
  • Familiarity with .NET, C#, and web services is an asset;
  • Familiarity with InstallShield and InstallScript is an assetKnowledge of investment and financial instruments.

Seniority Level:

Minimum 3 years database development experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
