Job Title: Data Scientist Intern Reporting: Strategic Solutions Group Director
Location: New York, NY / Remote FTE: Full Time

The Role

We are looking for a Data Scientist who will support our Data Quality Intelligence (DQI) and Data Quality Automation (DQA) activities by analyzing reference and time series data, business processes, and data management activities to identify areas for improvement with respect to operational efficiency and greater insight/transparency, and build solutions using ML and advanced analytics to realize these improvements for our clients.

You will work in the Strategic Solutions Group (SSG), an innovative team with strong technical expertise in Asset Control software and in-depth business knowledge. You will augment the capabilities of the team with data science expertise and will drive the analytics activities from inception to deployment, while working closely with the team regarding issue definition, data sourcing, and solution deployment

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with SSG and Asset Control clients to identify improvement opportunities (business analysis)
  • Develop models and algorithms, and test model quality
  • Together with the SSG team implement models in solutions and support/maintain these solutions short-term (including model performance monitoring)
  • Train Support teams regarding solution/model maintenance and support activities
  • Develop data science best practices within SSG with respect to development, testing, version control, deployment, etc.

Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to degree standard ideally in computer sciences or similar appropriate education/experience
  • Strong quantitative background
  • Strong knowledge of financial reference data (financial instruments such as shares, bonds, derivatives, rates, and their characteristics) and time series data (pricing)
  • Good understanding of databases (relational and NoSQL, such as Cassandra is a plus)
  • Good scripting and programming skills, and experience using statistical computer languages R and/or Python and query language SQL
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning and statistical techniques (clustering, Random Forest, SVM, NN, regression) and their real-world application advantages/drawbacks
  • Experience using common AI libraries (e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch, ScikitLearn) and tools
  • Experience in model development, testing, and deployment
